Maharashtra CM assures hostel land for NE students

While suggesting preparing a list of all NE students studying in various cities of Maharashtra, he also assured to allot land near major educational institutions in the state for constructing hostel for the NE students.
In appreciation of the initiative of GoAP, particularly Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for sending the goodwill team, including Arunachal Bhawan DRC KN Damo and Congress leader Likha Maj, the CM assured to allot another plot of land in Mumbai for Arunachal Bhawan to honour Sanjoy’s request. Describing the entire mission as highly satisfactory that helped in establishing a personal rapport between the people of the NE and rest of India, Sanjoy told over telephone today that “If we stand united no force on earth can destabilize India or disturb the unique example of unity in diversity reflected by Indians, particularly the people of NE.”
“The role of the divisive forces across the border have been proved beyond doubt and it is for we Indians to realize as to who does not want us to remain united. A stitch in time saves nine,” he was quoted by a team member as saying without mincing any word.
At Pune in the morning, Sanjoy addressing over 200 students assembled under the banner of NE Forum urged them to be ambassadors of NE in their institutions and manifest their rich cultural heritage and traditions.
“Behave like Romans when in Rome. Be cordial with the locals, respect their religions and cultures, observe your dress codes and request your friends to return soon,” he exhorted them and urged them to fly the NE flag high as the region is known for its hospitable people, Damo informed.
He further added that while officials have given full assurance of security in the state, there was wide appreciation for the goodwill mission by the senior citizens and Muslim leaders at both the cities, particularly at the Pune Eid dinner hosted by the Muslim brethren.

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The bodies of 10 missing persons, who feared dead in Tawang-
Lama informed this daily over the phone that the missing persons are still traceless despite all efforts made by the police. “We have been trying our best since last Sunday morning to trace out the vehicle and missing persons but yields no result” rued Lama. The missing persons, it is believed, were drowned with Tata Sumo into the Kameng River near accident site. The district police has been working with army and NDRF (national disaster response force) in search operation since the accident took place.
However, to make the search operation more worst the NDRF has withdrawn on being skeptic of tracing the vehicles and bodies of missing persons due to growing turbulence of the river water.

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: A coordination meeting of newly selected team of Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA), advisors and officials of tourism department was held in the conference hall of Tourism department today. While addressing the participants, Tourism and RWD Minister Pema Khandu called upon the tour operators to play a pivotal role in promoting Arunachal as major tourist destination. “Tourism department will need the help of the tour operators to make tourism industry prosper in big way. We have to work as team and should not let differences affect the growth of tourism,” said Pema.

Fogging drive intensified in Pasighat
PASIGHAT, Aug 21: The health department has intensified fogging drive in Pasighat township and its nearby villages after detection of Dengue fever.
District Medical Officer Dr. M Perme and ADC SC Debnath, while supervising the Fogging drive in the main market area today, said though anopheles and aedes dengue larvae were detected recently by the department, there is nothing to be panic. They assured that maximum efforts are being made to curb the situation. Adequate preventive measures are being taken up besides spreading awareness massages among citizens of Pasighat township, they said. ITANAGAR, Aug 21: A group of volunteers from Japan Hiromi San, Ai Chan Okayima, Rayan and Hirosi accomanied by Mone Yonggam, Treasurer, Donyi Polo Mission visited the School for Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu and conducted a workshop on Steam Baking Cake. 11 number of senior girls and 5 senior hearing Impaired boys participated in cake preparation and they prepared 140 small cakes which were later distributed to Visually and Hearing Impaired students and all staff.
The team also prepared Takeuma (a Japanese Traditional game/Walking Stick with two bamboo poles with footrests attached to climb on them as on a horse (Uma) for hearing impaired children and exhibited how to balance on them. In many schools Takeuma has been incorporated into school curriculum for the purpose of cultivating the children’s sense of balance in which the Hearing Impaired children always lack due to disorder of organ in the Inner ear.
The team further taught Visually Impaired children to play Table Tennis with sound making Tennis Ball in which blind students showed keen interest.
H. Sharma, Principal of the school extended his thanks and gratitude to the whole team for introducing a new sort of activities which would certainly boost up the students’ morale and self confidence as they actively took part indifferent activities.
It is to mention that both the schools, DPM School for the Hearing impaired (estd. 15th October 1990) and DPM School for the Visually Impaired ( Estd. On 22nd October, 2008) are the only school in the state which have been extending education, training and rehabilitation of Hearing and Visually Impaired children.
A tale of neglected destitute woman

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: It is a matter of great regret that at a time when she needed utmost care for her full recovery within homely environment, she had to spend her days and nights at a Hospital Veranda.
It is a story of a destitute woman, who has been languishing at Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun corridor for nearly two years. She was admitted in the hospital reportedly by a group of members from Arunachal Pradesh Women Commission with a request to the Hospital authority to keep her in the hospital stating that she needs some psychiatric consultation. Accordingly, she was admitted under Psychiatric Department and given necessary treatment, the Hospital Superintendent said.
After a month of treatment, the Psychiatrist declared that she does not require anymore medications but said she needs the care of her family members/relatives, if any. The Hospital authority informed that it had written letters to the Women’s Commission as well as the Capital Deputy Commissioner for her rehabilitation. But to no avail.
“It is very unfortunate to note that neither the relatives nor Women’s Commission
members have contacted the hospital authority for the last more than one and half
years,” the hospital superintendent told this reporters. Her living in the hospital
would not be possible anymore as hospital building is being demolished for the construction

State NSUI observes Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: State unit of National Students’ Union of India has observed the 68th birth anniversary of former prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi at Pasighat in a befitting manner on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, NSUI State Unit president Kirbe Dolum recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in nation building.
A friendly volleyball tournament was organized to mark the occasion. Horticulture College Pasighat A team defeated B team of the same college and won the friendly volleyball match. Health awareness programme at Nacho
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The Catholic Mission at Siyum organized Health Awareness cum Preventive Care Programme and a free medical camp at the Catholic Church at Nacho in Upper Subansiri District.
Around 250 people of the locality benefited from the medical camp and the awareness programme.
Inaugurating the camp, Rev. Fr. Sijo Chacko, the assistant Parish Priest of Siyum said that good awareness on personal health and hygiene can help people avoid some common diseases and exhorted the gathering to avail proper treatment whenever they fall sick.
The awareness programme started with a power point presentation on preventive measures for malaria, typhoid and other infectious diseases.
Dr. Sr. Susmitha MBBS, DNB of the Divine Mercy Health Centre, Siyum explained to the people that healthy life and surroundings can prevent the occurrences of many diseases and motivated the participants to take care of their personal and family hygiene.
Free malaria tests were conducted and medicines were distributed to the patients free of cost.

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The All Arunachal Football Players’ Association (AAFPA) has urged the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association and the organizing committee members of the XIth Tadar Tang Memorial Football Tournament not to postpone the tournament and conduct it as scheduled earlier.
AAFPA in an executive committee meeting attended by its district unit representatives from Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey and Papum Pare observed that postponement of the tournament would create lots of problem, including monetary for many participating teams as many of them have already started their training camps. It appealed for preparing a football calendar to avoid such problems.
The meeting also raised many issues relating welfare of football players such as adoption of certain policies for them.
The All Arunachal Football Players’ Association in its earlier meeting held on August 17 discussed about registration of football players. The meeting also asked the district units to work collectively for the welfare of the football players in the state.
SDP on cane and bamboo handicrafts for women
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The 30 days skill development programme and vocational training on Cane and Bamboo handicrafts for 100 woman trainees from Parang circle was inaugurated by Parang circle officer Tana Bapu at Parang Community Hall yesterday.
Addressing the trainees, the circle officer exhorted them to make good use of the training for advanced technology and innovative designing techniques to enhance the quality of their products. He announced to honor the best trainees of the programme with special prize.
In his speech, Nangbia Amar Dui, Chairman of NN Charitable Society (NNCS), expressed gratitude to the department of Social Welfare for granting three schemes in Sagalee area, namely Condense Course of Education Programme at Langper village, Family Counseling Centre (FCC) at Sagalee township and SDP under Innovative Scheme at Parang Circle.
He suggested the trainers to take personal interest to train the rural women to develop their skill thus enabling them to convert available raw materials into a valued product.
Tana Totu, Extension Officer, Industries, Sagalee block, as a resource person appealed to the rural people to make good use of the raw natural materials available with them. We have available raw materials like cane and bamboo. We can convert them into a source of income by producing various handicraft items from it. He advised the trainees to attend the training sincerely to gain knowledge and enhance skill.
Techi Ragi, NNCS Project Officer, said that since there is a rich tradition of indigenous handicrafts in Arunachal Pradesh and every people in this state has a much or less knowledge on handicraft, it would be easy for them to adopt handicrafts as a source of additional income. Saying that no job is too big or small, he suggested the trainees to aim high and think big to achieve success.
Among others, the PRI leaders and members of various farmer’s clubs, SHGs and publics of the circle attended the inaugural programme and thanked CSWB/APSSWB and the NNCS for taking up such an important mission in the area.

ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The Village Volunteer Youth Nyopong (VVYN) Village lodged a complaint with the Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner against poor quality construction work of the boundary wall of Residential School Nyopong by the authority concerned.
Describing that the construction work is below par, VVYN, in its complaint letter to the DC, alleged that the work has been completed without following the laid down norms, guidelines and design. It demanded the Deputy Commissioner to take action against the person(s) responsible for the poor construction work.

Doctors launch protest against repeated assault
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Arunachal Pradesh Doctor’s Association (APDA) today launched its democratic protest against repeated assaults on doctors and para medical staff on duty and lack of internal security in hospitals by donning ‘Black Badges’, putting up banners and posters throughout the state.

Police recruitment rally at Tezu
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The physical test in Police recruitment rally for the posts of Constable in APP Bn/ IRBn has culminated on Monday at Jubilee Ground Tezu. The rally, which is the part of the ongoing recruitment across the state, was started on 17 August last and it was conducted under the supervision of SP Seju P. Kuruvilla, who is also chairman of the recruitment rally.
Out of 697 candidates, 393 were qualified for the written examination, and 304 applicants were disqualified on physical ground, a release said. The Deputy Commissioner of Lohit R.K. Sharma paid visit to the recruitment rally and encouraged the aspirant candidates, DIPRO.
‘Restore road link’
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Road connectivity between Seppa to Pipu has been completely snapped due to massive landslide triggered by heavy rains, informed All East Kameng Youth Forum.
The forum quoting PW Department head informed that it might take a long time of four to six month to restore the road communication. The Forum feared that long disruption in road communication would adversely affect the all on going development works in the area.
In absence of road, the raw materials required for the works cannot not be transported and the work will be ultimately stopped for a long time, the Forum said and urged the local MLA, District Administrator and concern department to take immediate initiative for restoration of the road at any cost.

The organization has been demanding for posting of new executive engineer at the division for last couple of month.
ATA seeks enhanced cash award
ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) in a memorandum to Education Minister appealed him to enhance the amount being offered to selected teachers as cash award. in recognition to their dedicated service.
The existing cash award being offered to dedicated teachers is too meager to serve any purpose, the ATA said and demanded introduction of enhanced cash award from the current financial year.
The Association further appealed the minister to extend financial help for celebration of Teachers’ Day in all schools of the state in grand manner.

CHANGLANG, Aug 21: Sadbhavana Diwas was celebrated at Changlang district Hq along with rest of the country yesterday by organizing pledge taking ceremony in every office.
Earlier, August 17, the District administration, under the initiative of Changlang deputy commissioner Opak Gao created a long human chain of officers and officials from every department led by Changlang ADC MC Roy from DIET auditorium to Changlang Bazaar. Responding to the appeal of the District Administration, hundreds came out to join the human chain to uphold the spirit of communal harmony.

Apropos to an article "Is it only the duty of Govt. to keep Capital clean and green ? (August 21 2012), we would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the people who turned up for the cleanliness drive at I.G. Park despite the incessant rain. This was possible with the untiring efforts of the core team which did an excellent job in mobilizing the people despite the limited resources at their disposal. This collaborative efforts and the zeal to continue with the idea to create awareness among our people is indeed encouraging.
We would like to express our gratitude to the U.D. and the P.H.E. Departments for extending support for successful cleanliness drive. We had students from Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic Institute, R.G.U., NERIST, Green Mount School, King Cup School, JNV and scores of volunteers from different walks of life irrespective of age, profession or community. Despite being a holiday and a perfect time to enjoy personal life, they chose to be a part of the day and did a commendable job in making I.G. Park a cleaner place. It’s heartening to see their zest and each of us should be motivated to lend a helping hand for a good cause.
The hillside is slowly being encroached, burnt and deforestation continues despite warnings from the authorities. What is left, that makes Itanagar a beautiful city still, is the I.G. Park but yet there is indifference.
The citizens of Capital Complex don’t need an organization or society to take concrete steps in making ours a better place to live in. If each of us chooses to volunteer one day out of the year, it will go a long way in making this happen. There’s probably going to be more events in the near future and if u missed the last event, you may participate in upcoming events.

In fact we appreciate their visit to ensure safety and security of NE students when they were completely left in helpless condition.
